With Laic architecture and built in a Gothic style, Corvin Castle is the most important monument of its kind in Transylvania. King Sigismund of Luxemburg offered to Romanian King Voicu the feudal domain of Hunedoara and the regal fortress there. King Voicu’s son, the famous anti – Ottoman warrior, Iancu de Hunedoara (John Hunyadi) fortified the building and he transformed it in aristocratic residence. From the old constructions are to be noticed: Knight’s Hall, Diet’s Hall, Neboisa Tower (Ne Boisa = Don’t be afraid), White Bastion or Scepter’s Bastion. In Matei Wing you can still see the legend of the raven painted.
